What is diabetes?
Diabetes is a chronic disease in which the blood glucose (sugar) is elevated. There are many types of diabetes, the most common being Type 2. With Type 2 Diabetes, you may not be making enough insulin or your body does not recognize the insulin you are making (insulin resistance). Some risk factors for Type 2 diabetes include being overweight, being inactive, being over 40 years of age, having a family history of diabetes, and having had Gestational diabetes (diabetes which occurs during pregnancy).
