Southern New Hampshire Medical Center is on the forefront both regionally and nationally in addressing patient overexposure to radiation from CT scans.
We have reduced the radiation dose on our 64-slice scanner by up to 40% without compromising diagnostic image quality.
The Medical Center achieved lower radiation doses by carefully examining and adjusting its dosage protocols, while assuring image quality at all times.
In 2008, we initiated a unique Patient Protection Program that alerts doctors and patients when a certain number of scans has been reached, based on the patient’s age.
"Our professional team of CT technologists, radiologists, and physicists are all committed to quality and patient safety. Their diligent work produced these patient safety measures," says Steven Birnbaum, MD, Radiation Safety Officer.
Diagnostic Imaging Services The Medical Center's state-of-the-art technology enables doctors to provide our patients with the most accurate diagnosis and the most effective treatment. We're always evaluating and investing in new technology to ensure that you receive the best possible care.
Our board certified radiologists analyze x-ray and computer-generated images, then share their findings with your doctor, who in turn discusses them with you. The radiologists' diagnostic imaging skills help your doctor "see" inside the body and ensure that you receive the most accurate diagnosis as comfortably as possible.
Digital Mammography at the deNicola Breast Health Center
The deNicola Breast Health Center now offers digital mammography for all patients. Digital mammography takes the x-ray image of the breast and stores it directly onto the computer where the radiologist can enlarge it or change the contrast to make the picture clearer. Studies have shown that this new technology is more effective at finding breast cancers in certain groups of women.
the deNicola Breast Health Center at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center is committed to providing a higher level of care to all of our patients. We remain committed to continued evaluation of evolving data to ensure we provide state-of-the-art treatment to our patients. At this time, we stand behind the American Cancer Society Guidelines that recommend annual mammograms and clinical breast exams for all women beginning at age 40.
