Home Health & Hospice Care

Twenty four hours a day, 365 days a year, Home Health & Hospice Care provides comprehensive home and community health care in southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. To promote living with dignity, they offer services ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to skilled rehabilitation, nursing, and hospice care.

In the fall of 2000, Home Health & Hospice Care opened Community Hospice House in Merrimack. The Medical Center made a donation of a million dollars to its construction. We encourage others to join the effort to fund an endowment to ensure the financial stability and continued operation of such an important community resource. The eight to ten bed facility provides pain and symptom management, nursing services, social services, psychosocial and spiritual counseling, and family support to terminally ill patients and their families. A long-term dream of area hospice providers, the facility offers community access to comprehensive end-of-life care in a home-like setting. Currently, the only other hospice house in the state is located in Concord.

Nashua Regional Cancer Center

The Nashua Regional Cancer Center (NRCC) is a state-of-the-art radiation therapy center serving southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. A non-profit organization, the Center was established in 1992 by Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, St. Joseph Hospital, and Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in a collaborative effort to improve local access to comprehensive cancer care. Thousands of patients in our community have benefited from being able to receive radiation therapy locally.

The Nashua Regional Cancer Center is the only accredited radiation center in southern New Hampshire, licensed by the state of New Hampshire's Department of Public Health. NRCC uses the most current equipment available, including a digital linear accelerator, simulator, and treatment planning software. Patients receive care from an expert team of specialists, which includes certified radiation oncologists, certified oncology nurses, radiation physicists, and therapists. A radiation oncologist is on call for patients 24-hours a day. Their dedicated Breast Cancer Resource Program offers personal counseling and access to individualized support services.

The NRCC sponsors community education activities throughout the year, to raise awareness about cancer, to offer support to cancer patients and their families, and to promote early diagnosis of the disease. The center also maintains a library of information on cancer and cancer treatment which is open to the public.
