Teaching Kids the Fun of Staying Fit for Life

Fitness U

Fitness University is a free, non-competitive running program for kids ages 3 to 14. The Medical Center partners with Nashua’s Gate City Striders to provide free running clinics throughout Greater Nashua during the late spring and early summer, helping teach kids about fitness and healthy choices. Last summer, over 1,200 kids took part in the program.

Southern New Hampshire Medical Center is proud to support Fitness University, a free running fitness program for children ages 3 to 14. Developed in 1989 by the Nashua Gate City Striders, Fitness University is dedicated to promoting the importance of fitness, fun, and good health.

Through June and into July, running clinics are held in Nashua and surrounding towns. The series of clinics incorporates lots of fun into age-appropriate training sessions - stretching, games, running, healthy snacks, and giveaways! The fun culminates on Finals Day with games, prizes, and plenty of laughter for all. Celebrity "deans" of past Finals Days have included Rick and Dick Hoyt, Regina Jacobs, and Bill Rodgers.

Your child may never be a track star or marathon runner, but the lessons learned at Fitness University can help him or her develop good health habits for life. For more information, contact fitnessu@aol.com.
